You know using a german cross would be a pretty intresting test!its a big medal with a few layers of metal! That might have a chance of stopping a bullet at a distance!!!

An interesting thread created by Chet and Robert to be nothing more than infomative to the forum and it has taken a hard left turn by others over a lump of metal that it's only value is that which is placed on it by people who say it has a value ($200.00 bucks), big deal. The soldiers that had these for the most part through them away after the war, had a lot of meaning to them. As a kid we traded them back and forth and gave them to each other, alot of value there. I have not known Chet to have to be so verbal to have to defend himself over a stupid issue such as this when he and Robert were trying to present a very interesting thread, by the way cheers to you both.
I don't know Robert but I do know Chet and he is a good friend and a man who has been giving to others and a man who only tries to contribute positive information to this forum, remember that when you want his opinion on whether your newly acquired PAB is real.
I will conclude by saying this "get the hell off Chet and Roberts backs", it's this kind of crap that make men like this who were just trying to put something interesting out there not want to present new thoughts and ideas. Maybe it would have held more credability if they were Dr. Chet and Dr. Robert.

I think you are heavily underestimate bullets performance... Below i'm posting pictures of .5" thick steel plate which was penetrated from +150yds...

Well, this has certainly generated a lot of discussion (good and bad) and has turned out to be quite a "hornet's nest." Chet and Robert must be shaking their heads in exasperation right about now for some of the comments made.

We'll never know how many other badges of greater "value" (eye of the beholder) have been tossed aside, thrown away, or destroyed without the benefit of gaining at least some knowledge.

Chet and Robert came up with an idea to learn something and acted on it. They did it on their own time and dime for the benfit of at least gaining some new information. In short they have made another contribution to the hobby as a whole (or two holes as it may be!). As for me, I hope that they continue to contribute to this hobby despite some of the uglier attitudes displayed by some of the forum members.

For those holding out hope for the possibility of voluntary worldwide peaceful human co-existence, I believe this thread pretty much dispels that notion too!

                    Regards,
                    Eric

What´s the lenght of your Tikka barrel? It looked slightly modified to me compared the standard T3´s i´ve seen before.
Yes, and that's why i have fine tuned my load to closely match muzzle velocity of WWII rifle - by using chronograph you can really find the load which will be satisfying. I knew i had a room to play because i can easily go over 3000 fps. Hand reloading gives you tremendous advantage because you are basically deciding what speed you want to have - to some limits of course...

My Tikka barrel length is 22" (without muzzle brake). I had a chance to cut the barrel down, but i decided not to because i'm shooting at longer distances as well and you never know when you may need some extra fps...
