Well I counted 18 participants and the ones that seemed to get people the most were #2,#4 and#5. Now I am no expert at all, I just got these from threads in this forum and good or bad verdict was in the thread where I got each one and I took it at face value. Maybe Frank would like to open some discussion on these since 7 people out of 18 were wrong on #2, 8 of 18 wrong on #4, and 8 of 18 wrong on #5. Is there any question of #2 and #4 being fake and #5 being real?

Dear Sal,

I would think that 2 and 5 are indeed original badges.

2: cannot see anything wrong with it, most have a silver finished reverse, but I assume that gold finish could be ok as well.

4: Strange rivets. Wrong.

5: It was assumed back then by me that some of the Assmann Minesweepers could be repro badges but that suspicion has not turned out to be true. There are fake Assmann minesweepers but they look differently (with a 57 style setup)

I got them all correct apart from no 5 you say is fake Sal, are you 101% sure this is a fake ? Or rather someone educate me please, how can you tell on that badge ?

On number 5 it looks as if the gold finish is also in the pited out part of the badge or am I mistaken?

I have seen fake Assmann marked minesweeper's (5) and that is why I voted for it as being fake, but the fake ones I have seen seem to be brass and are thicker than what you usually see on minesweeper. I voted number 4 as being real but now see that it is fake.

Anyway good quiz, and more importantly who wins the prized badges?

Hi Markus,
It appears that the thinking on that badge has changed from the time it came out in the thread I found it in. Frank corrected that and I posted a revised list of answers. #4******5 reversed from the original answers list. So you would now be correct in saying that #5 is real, but incorrect saying #4 is also real. I too am not knowlegeable enough about these and I think Frank could clear this up much better than I could as to the why. There does seemk to be a need for some clarification on those two. Frank help us out here please .Thanks

As I said above, here is my opinion on those two:

#4 fake, rivets are wrong for an JMME
#5 original badge, fake Assmann Minesweepers exist, but look more like the one shown below, with a possible variation of fake setups.
