        I'm with Den......

......on this one. From the images available and without weights, measurements and in-hand inspection, the badge shown looks good, in my opinion. Those marks are visible on other RS panzer badges. However, the catch does look to have possibly been replaced. And yes, I'm aware of the fact that good(and bad for that matter) reproductions can and do replicate die-flaws.

The badge shown seems to display more than just the flaw near the catch, but that could mean that the die-flaw had become much more advanced by the time of it's production......

Just for reference try the following link(this is just ONE of many to be seen while searching RS in this Forum):

Bruce my only concern was the hinge plate,i've never seen one with such sharp corners. They're usually more rounded. Stewy

            Hi Bruce

The one you posted a link to is another that looks similar to the one Den posted and I would not have any issues with it. It has the hinge with the curved base, which is also known to be used on Souvals.

You are obviously happy with the hinge on the one we are discussing.

I am not convinced die flaw advancement would affect the reverse in so many different areas?

Anyway, so you know where I stand, the badge could well be original, I said not for my collection because of several areas not looking correct.

            cheers

              Hi guys,

I agree with Graeme's assessment, the badge looks OK detail wise but that catch and espeically the hinge are not typical of Souval. That catch is much smoother than the typical flatwire catch used by Souval and the square edges to the hinge aren't something we see on original badges, but indeed found on fakes. The obverse design around the tank treads also looks odd to me, and this is an area where the fakes mess up a lot too on their castings. Good dims and a weight are key here.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
