The fingerprint look is a design in the medal and doesnt not have any pattern to it. Like your fingerprint itself there is not pattern but a swirl pattern design?? Here is a close up of mine for example.

i had 3 of these that were from a locial vet. i know for a fact they are all original. i had them discussed on here . Robin Lumsden even said they were original . one other from europe aslo said it is a p&l. didnt i see on here where some one show Detlevs had a oak leaf set you all said was a fake for sure?and i think a german cross he also had . i could be wrong but i seem to remember this a while back. so i tend to beleive what i was already told by others here on this site. we all make mistakes but i know where these came from.

Without getting into "I know where they came from so they must be real", can you tell me why (as you believe your example is made by P&L) it does not match other known originals from P&L?
Why is the pebbling on your example much coarse than known originals?
Why is it (re)produced in different pattern as known originals?
Lastly-the finish on the medal is rather strange which gives me the impression that perhaps the fakers got the 4 and 8 yrs mixed up. I mean you have three examples of the medal and all three are COMPLETELY stripped of the black coat yet they show no dings or scratches whatsoever.
And lastly- does anyone else have the same example of the medal in their collection? Not that it (dis)proves anything but would be interesting to see if there are more.

I don't like it either. Notice the difference in the wreath binding. The one in question has very sharply defined ridges. This is not found on originals.

I seem to recall seeing this medal somewhere before in this forum and commenting on its "greasy" look. I can't find that post, however.

I gave my opinion on these medals some time ago. I don't like them.
