Deschler CCC & more - Great Find!

    Hi guys,

Not sure how many of you guys get to the GCA forum, but some really great finds have come up lately regarding Deschler badges. Hans N. has made a really great find regarding some planchets for a PAB & GAB and are helping to unravel one of the mysteries of Deschler being a maker of these combat badges. Those of you with the CCC book know that I have made a connection to one of the unmarked CCCs to Deschler and Hans' find I think adds a good bit more credence to my link. Furthermore, I found a "prototype" CCC about a year ago that I bought more as a novelty piece rather than a piece of evidence. In light of Hans' find, this piece has taken on a new meaning for me and is now one of the best pieces in my collection! Here are the links, figured it was better than retyping and reposting everying again:

Thanks guys. Hope some of you can contribute to these threads and we can unravel this puzzle a bit more!

Happy 4th to all of us rebellious Americans!

      Tom:

Thanks for sharing these threads. Thist is an exciting piece of research work!!

When Hans gets the GAB and PAB planchets in hand, maybe more information will come to light.

I wonder where Detlev obtained the CCC you received from him?

        Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. Dennis, I agree, some great advancements when it comes to Deschler. Not sure where Detlev picked up my CCC, but I have sent him an email to see if he can remember. At the time, he mentioned it was a "prototype", but I didn't have much faith in the badge being more than a novelty piece given its crude design. Sure it matched the obverse design of Souval, Hobacher and Deschler, but I really didn't know what to make of the saw cuts to the swastika and just chalked it up to somebody at the factory just messing around. Who knew a year later it would have much bigger significance once combined with the other "prototype" finds of the GAB & PAB.

Its stuff like this that makes this hobby really interesting for me; these little puzzles make it much more rewarding.

          I couldn't agree more!

I'll look forward to hearing more when Hans receives the badges in hand.

            Hi gents,

well i am afraid that besides being the owner of two interesting pieces i don´t know that mutch. But according the dealer the planchets was bought together with some other items like a JSF Bronze CCC and a unmarked EK 1 from a Gun dealer that said they all came from an old collection. And he said they most likely were a Vet finding before entering that old collection.

              Hi Hans,

Glad that arrived in your safe hands!

Do you see any evidence of hand file marks? Does it look like these are just bare zinc with absolutely no finish or laquer on them at all?

              Thanks

                Hi Tom,

well there´s no file marks what so ever. Just raw cut edges and they are
just bare zinc with absolutely no finish or laquer on them.

Hans, thanks for posting them. Can you do larger scans?

Tom, can you add your CCC here?
