    Hi guys,

The finish around the catch does look much brighter than the rest of the badge, and like Graeme says, I don't think the silver finish on the reverese would look so much different than around the catch area just due to solder.

With that, I think it must have something to do with the solder and I think the catch is original. The seal around the base of the catchplate looks very good, and original to the badge (absolutely no sign of it being removed). Also, you can see this same type of affect around the base of the hinge, so IMO, it must have something to do with the way the finish reacts with the solder. With it showing up on the HINGE and CATCH, makes me think that it is a totally original, untouched badge.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Thank you all for contributing to this thread.

I also believe the brighter area is related to the solder and did not give it much thought until Graeme questioned it.

As far as the dark area around the catch goes, there is also a darker area near the hinge (right side). The darker area must have something to do with the soldering process and the bright area around the catch (and around the hinge area too) is not paint as it does not flake off. It is adhered to the badge very well and to me it appears to be the finish (just brighter on the solder than on the badge).

As Tom indicates, the bright area is around both the hinge and catch, and all hardware looks original to the badge. Maybe someone else has this badge with the same feature and can share a photograph with us.

If anyone else has something to contribute, please do so.

      Again, thank you.

      Eric
