    Hi Bog,

Not necessarily, there were some AGMuK makers that did indeed use a bright bronze finish, but the majority chose to use a darker brennlack finish. You do see the Ludenscheid based makers using a brighter finish more consistently and I just think it was a regional thing rather than anything else. It is clear that all the Ludenscheid based makers shared hardware and even design concepts, for instance using 1 vertical crimp along the entire length of each side of the backplate (GWL, F&BL, FLL, S&L, H&CL, etc.) No other maker, other than Hobacher uses a side crimp along the entire length, and IMO was a regional collaboration of sorts between CCC makers. Same thing with the finishes.

A good example of a bright finish on an AGMuK would be the 1.3.1s. They used a very bright finish on the entire clasp, then overlaid the obverse with a darker finish to provide a two-toned, artificially worn look.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Tom,
A very informative thread. I suppose if I had read your book instead of just looking at the pictures I would have known this.

BTW, the last pictured clasp is killer!

          Hi Chet,

Thanks and I agree, a great informative thread! No offense taken on the book, I still haven't read Frank's entire GAB book either, just look at the pictures most of the time. I will say there are many good little tidbits of information in the picture descriptions of the CCC book, so do find time to read them over the next few years .

On this 1.3.1 AGMuK clasp, I was VERY LUCKY to add this one to my collection a year or so ago. I only know of 1 other one, they are EXTREMELY RARE and is one of the highlights in my collection.

          Thanks guys.
