I know very little about PAB's, so I've decided to learn by picking up as many of the common makers I can find to study. The head of this eagle is surely nice. I would have guessed it to be either an S&L or Juncker by the hardware. Did S&L make a PAB?
Den, I can see a real difference in the obverse of both badges (J, S&L), and from what I can see so far the reverse recesses for the catch and hinge look different on both also.
With only one maker-marked PAB and a gaggle of oval-crimps, I thought it time to gather in some of the other PAB's. But I'm still keeping a sharp eye out for any flak's that may show up. I lost sleep over missing that B&NL yesterday by ONE minute. Who would have thought that piece would show up on the e-stand, and in THAT condition?
Back on topic... Den, I'm still a little confused as to why collectors stew over these two types. There seem to be dominant features which identify each maker's badge (J & S&L). Is it because neither are marked?
Hi Robert, it confuses me too to be hounest, the obverse between these two show differences and the hardware on Junckers is almoast the same on every badge, S&L has very different pin setups, I think it was Frank Heukemes who linked these two together, there were many threads discussing these. found this old thread from Van Luger that explains a little. found these S&L's in my files with so many different setups.
regards Den S&L PAB vs. Zimmermann PAB Theory?

Thank you so much Den,
There IS a wide assortment of pin assemblies for the S&L, very confusing. Thank you for the photo. It will come in very handy looking for that 'right' S&L...
