IMO these bronze Aurich PAB's are pretty hard to find....and when you do they usually are not in very good condition..

Being reasonably familiar with wear patterns on a number of field issue/combat Wehrmacht items a loss of finish and then detail is to be expected on heavily worn items. Where it gets IMO a little more problematic is with finish removal inside protected areas. With the usual suspects normally being corrosion or over cleaning.

At this late it’s hard to say just what happened here. And with silver badges (with age) it might be almost impossible to tell. But based on my experience outside the area of badge collecting. While I see traces in some places, I would think that ordinarily the interior details and rear of the badge would have more of the original ‘bronze’ finish in the more protected areas than seen with the example originally posted. Looking more closely at the badge, at the hatch cover on the top of the tank and the upper portion of the swasi, it could have been a silver version, possibly. It's only a guess either way at best.

This is the infantry tunic I was speaking about with the 'nap' wear inside the left sleeve, presumably worn from wearing up against the badges.??
