The Africa Hero is a guy in Germany who makes pretty good fakes....that is if your not looking hard enough. This is one of his MANY fakes that he does so there is no need to "SHOW IT". This may make you upset but this badge IS A FAKE.

        Regards,
        Chris G.

          Hi Filip

As I highlighted your badge initially, I feel I should comment.

There is not much to add that the other guys have not already mentioned. For me the dimpled finish on the reverse was also suspect.

For your info, ball hinges are faked.

These days you have to scrutinise every badge.

          regards
          Graeme

Thanks a lot everyone for commenting on this badge.

I really appreciate the dialog and not at all upset about the outcome. I’m into campaign shields mostly and everything related and so in that field I was fortunate enough to avoid major disappointments.

            Filip

            P.S.

1.If someone does have an image of fake AS IAB we talked about , please post it in this thread . I would really love to see it for myself.
2.Was that fake die struck or cast?

            THX

Well, this should put an end to the casting theory at least.

Not really. They can cast those in because they make the mold from a good badge, or they can file the casting line off which would leave those striations. Go to the site a gave you and have a look around. Fakes have come a long ways in the past 5 years.

Maker mark. These pics are from the Africa Heroes web page offerings and were posted on GCA. The Hero has blocked his pics from being saved and I'm not smart enough to figure it out......

So that´s why you are lurking around at GCA logged in as "invincible"

Well there are ways around the picture blockings Don, programs like Screenhunter to mention one of them.

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

Why am I invisible over there? I never lurk, just breeze thru 5-6 forums as fast as I can during breaks at work.
