    Hello Dave,
I think the badge with the pin is standing on a plastic stand that will explain the extra notches.

    Cheers,

on a side note about the date on the back.
i totally agree both dates were done by the same hand, and it's hard telling how many others are out there just like it. the mix of roman and normal numbers is distinct to the writer i think. i have never seen that mix on any other dated TR item. now having said that please considder these badges have been around a while, and it is possable these and likely others were in the same owners hands at some point in time. dealer or collector, and may be they thought it would bring more when sold if they were dated. this is only a possability folks.
if the moderator here could help me out with marking the knotches i spoke of on the badge it would be very helpfull i think to show the difference. or any one else that is willing to do it. unfortunatly i am to new to the forum to post on my own. or i would have already.
i dont mind debate at all, i think its a good thing. but when a point can be shown and proven, hopefully it is accepted.
      thank you.

i hang my head in shame, and ask forgiveness . i'll crawel back under my rock now. but i still see other slight differences, but i'm keeping my mouth shut lol. it could be the lighting.

I'm with you Dave, these are 2 different badges, but I think both are castings
why is there the same zinkrot and the same date? i dont have a clue
I dont believe the fist picture didnt have the hinge and catch and the second did have it replaced, if it was replaced, it was a realy great job
and why cant it be one person did scratched the dates in 2 different badges? god knows why....

thank you Darrell. my eyes are getting bad in my old age. sorry i blew up. i wish the lighting on the pinless badge was better. and it not having a pin still throws me. if it was just a picture taken from here that is. i would think having a pin in the pic would be a better selling point than with out ?
i'm going to let this one haunt some one else lol.
and thank you kray, its wierd no doubt.

The thing that seals it for me is the scratched letters on the reverse. They are identical. For the badges to be different, it would be almost impossible for this to be the same.

The differences pointed out are due to lighting and/or different angles of the pictures.
