Gentlemen,

Apart from two badges in a Californian collection I already know of, who else owns PABs with the MH maker mark? I would like to learn more about these badges. All other MH marked badges (such as CCCs), no matter whether they are considered original or fake, are also welcome in this thread.

Hi Frank,

I know I've sent these to you before, but wanted to post this CCC in here for the record and for discussion. I do not know who the current owner is, so if its a problem, let me know and I'll remove it.

I have handled a similar one to this MH CCC at the last SOS. I believe this CCC to be a reproduction. It had poor detail, weird finish and was made of tombak, definately not zinc. The obverse of the one I handled was crisscrossed with several weird looking cut marks, mainly seen on the scrollwork around the central motif and on the acorns.

I will say that it is definately not a cast reproduction of an original CCC, it features a totally unique design.

These WH or HW marked minis are suspected to be Wilhelm Hobacher or possibly Hermann Wernstein, but they are definitely not MH.

Hi guys,

I've put a little comparison together that is further proof that these MH CCCs are reproductions. I believe these are made by the same guys that made the fake F&BL CCCs that are pretty common. The backplate crimping is the same between these two. Also notice the asymmetrical areas to the top and bottom areas of the central motif as viewed from the reverse, they are identical (areas circled in blue). The hinge, pin and catch are also a match. They apparently used the same die for both badges, but just switched up the maker marks between the two. The obverse details are similar, but not a 100% match.
