Thank you all so much for your kind comments,it's certainly very encouraging
If you're a novice like myself,it really does pay to research before you blindly buy the first piece you see.It definitely saves heartsink
Frank,i've recently enquired about your present book and your future book...They're at the top of my "must" have's...and you're right, the Assman is more of a greyish olive bronze. Is this finish attributed to this maker only?

interesting to see that coming through the badge!

On the other "bronze" GABs I have handled, this effect seemed to be more the cause of an aging/discoloring process. Some people claim that this is not the case with their badges but that is my experience. One of the unknown makers is especially prone to this kind of discoloration into a very dark brownish tone.Cheers, Frank

Thanks for the info Frank...very helpful...
I have a theory for the front stamp. If the surface on which the badge is located for stamping (probably a jig/fixture of some sort) has been "dry stamped" i.e no badge has been placed there, then every time you place a badge on the same spot and stamp it,the impact/pressure will cause a negative shadow on the front.
I saw another BSW with this effect on the forum a couple of months ago. Also, i have a "26" stamped EKI pin with the same effect again.
