Hello, I've dug up this threadhttp://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29448&highlight=Souval+CCC. After looking at Sergey's pic's that are posted in it,they look very close to the same, except for the finish.I do not know if that piece is an accepted (pre-45) version. The badge that i posted i have owned about for about 1 1/2 yrs. & could not find any other info. on this type,so this is why i finally decided to ask for some opinions on it.Please take a look & again Thanks again in advance for thoughts on the badge! Regards,Ron

Philippe, I had just posted that last thread,as you just posted the same pic's as i had noted. Thanks, for the reply, now it does seem that is more to look at on these as that flared out (dip) near the lower backplate is present at least these versions. Ron

I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

I would be hesitant to this one as well. There are a couple of things that doesn't add up:

              1. The hook is too large (tall).
              2. The poor fitting of the backplate.
              3. The dip on the reverse is centered, normally it's positioned slightly to the
              right.
              4. There are visible remains of metal on several places in the center.

Check the eagle's beak in Ron's #4 post. Compared with Philippe's eagle close-up, the beak in question appears to be very long and sagging at the tip. I still do not see the detailing in the veins on the obverse, that I see in all original examples. And the attachment of the hinge and catch is cleaner than a factory Deumer or GWL Pilot's badge! As for the variation backplate attachment...... well...... what the heck is holding the backplate if it is not a pressure crimp, of any type. We can either see the crimp or we can't. There is no magic involved.

                    Ron,

How inconvenient, that work interrupts more important things! I don't want to get off topic of your badge, but just to show an example.... I will post images of a mint aluminum GWL CCC, and then a zinc GWL CCC. The point is the Gold CCC had no crimps. (Also in question was the '57 style pin!) It was returned. But I did pick up a silver zinc GWL CCC with the right crimps.

Have a beer. That'll help you make up your mind.

...very difficult. Looks good for me but... better don't buy it.

Very good observe... likes other collectors... i don't like the reverse.

Ok,I've got my beer in hand, what a great idea while thinging about this badge . To be honest with you guys i've never felt at ease with this CCC,i never had a complete thumbs-up on it from the collectors i've shown it to.I do agree that from what i've seen this does not conform to any original R.S. CCC's that i can see. Well, back to the Beer!!!
Thanks to all that replied.Best Regards,Ron
