Most unusual way that the backplate is attached on this R.S. Normally these are affixed by the metal being crimped into place on two points on each side. Is the backplate secure or loose?

Almost appears that it has been refinished. Looks pretty shiney in the one picture from the reverse at the angle.

I agree; the crimping I expect to see on R.S. CCCs is distinctive and quite different from what this badge shows. Additionally, the R.S. appears to be a bit larger than what I have encountered and the catch affixed differently.

                    Hi Ron,

That badge just makes me worry. The obverse features all look correct, but they have that 'soft' look. Like maybe a copy. The finish looks matte, not the shiny silver wash I would like to see.

The reverse is really scary. As mentioned, the usual four crimps are missing. How is the plate secured.... epoxy??? And the hinge and catch are impeccable. Just way too perfect. They are the right design and style, but they look brand new.

I wouldn't sleep well with that NKS. Keep looking.

                    Regards,
                    Mark

                      Darrell,
The backplate is not loose at all...

                      Mark,
thanks for your comments and pictures of your CCC as well. Are they any known original examples with a non crimped backplate?

                        Hi Ron

I too do not like the reverse of this ccc nor the eagle. Furthermore, the ccc looks as if it was made yesterday. I would pass on this one. Good Luck.

                        Best Regards
                        Mike

My thoughts exactly, to be honest i don´t like that CCC!

I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

                            Hi Guys,

Difficult one but I wouldn't trough it in the bin to quick. If this is a fake then the same guys making this one also made this badge with the correct crimp. Doesn't make much sense does it, why mess things up if you know the correct way to crimp RS's.

Notice the dip visible on the reverse just in the center on the bottom of the back plate. This bade is for sale at T. Huss an was discussed before as being a possible refinish.

And here is a bronze example I saved in my files as a possible variant crimp on RS CCC's. Looks very believable to me and although not very clear it also seems to feature that dip
