Don't mess with the medal sell as is that's the way you got it most collectors do not like messed with pieces if they know they are.Sell the medal and it's box together again that's the way you got them.

What are you saying? You think it's fake?

I read it that he's saying fakes exist (you don't need to be a brain surgeon to know that) and that as Jo Rivett says on his video they are covered in casting pits, visible under magnification.

I do like the look of this cross, but I’m interested that the cross looks worn/ tarnished as expected, but the wreath is nice and bright gold. Is that typical? I ask not as a criticism, but out of interest.

Totally normal Tony, the silver oxidises but the gold always remains bright. The dull gold ones are the ones that worry me personally. I've never had a microscope on one though.

Thanks Ian. I shall watch and see if it appears on estand.

Actually it sold before I had a chance to put it on estand. I do have some other interesting medals/badges listed (Long service, RAD, Customs,NSKOV). Thanks everyone who commented.

No im not saying anything about it.
I just can not understand how you can authenticate medals with pictures like that.
You need a microscope as fakes are getting better.

                        I agree,
Especially after these have been exposed as at risk.
I’m sure the fakes can be identified with a good quality photo

                        Kind regards Chay

In my case I authenticated the medal,by looking at the box and ribbon. It's possible for a fake medal to be in a real box,but not that common.

The medals themselves are not 'rare', the boxes on the other hand …

I've now examined the medal with a 30x magnifying glass, and compared it to my other service medals. And it's perfectly real.

I'm very happy with it,and I want to say that Rob is a very stand up seller,he read the previous replys and offered to refund my money if I didn't like it.

It is not about that it is about putting what you already have under the microscope.
