It is your aggressive tone that I find offensive. You're damn right it touched a nerve.
In another post on June 14th regarding this medal, you asked long-time member TPAlexander "Where did you get this [photo of the medal] please?" Tim promptly responded, "I think it was an auction website. It's been so long, I really don't remember."
Did you read his answer? He doesn't remember. It is totally plausible that a collector who peruses countless online militaria auctions and dealer websites every month (like the majority of members here) cannot remember exactly where he saw something. I sure as hell would not have been able to recall these details from two months ago.
Your interrogation of Tim should have ceased after he announced "I really don't remember." Unfortunately, you continue by berating him with rhetoric: " It was only two months ago?? I would have thought that an award as hard to come by as a 40 yr Long Service cross (albeit with an incorrect wreath) would have stuck in your mind?"
So in other words, Tim's ability to remember does not quite live-up to your expectations or your standards... that somehow, he is less than adequate in your eyes for not remembering where he saw this medal back in March.
You then escalate from disparaging to accusatory: " ...the fact that this item was posted here on the WAF for opinions only two months ago by someone who has now conveniently forgotten where those images came from - STINKS."
"CONVENIENTLY FORGOTTEN" is a sarcastic way of implying that Tim is deliberately concealing information. Any reasonable person would conclude that you have implicated him - i.e. indirectly accused him openly - of somehow being involved in deception and fraud. AND ALL THIS without one shred of hard evidence to back it up.
Frankly, I fail to understand why the Moderators haven't reprimanded you for publicly disparaging and maligning another member.
Hopefully Seigfried's behavior as the self-styled, self-appointed Grand Inquisitor of the Forum will not discourage other forum members from posting photos of items from auction websites for evaluation.
