Not a good one in my opinion.

The wreath is of the open type which is not found in any period publication.

Stippling to the cross is not as it should be.

        Most likely a Souval copy.

I agree, there's also a clear centre casting line

I picked this up in a little country auction in North Carolina. It appears that this exact medal was here on the forum a short while ago. It would be interesting to know how it made it to the middle of nowhere to trip someone up... See the link below.

Unless it has a twin brother. It sure looks like it is the same cross.

The casting line shows up far better on the original thread ... it even shows the very reverse corner of the 6 o'clock arm has crumbled off back to that line OR it wasn't cast very well *sighs* Looks like the original owners have attempted to dispose of their trash out of sight and it's come floating straight back to the top.

mm..it was posted for comments by TP Alexander but he did not state that he owned it, he posted it for comments. It would be good if he could tell us where the pic came from.

I've asked TP Alexander the origin of the photos in the link. Who sold it - can you get a refund?

Well despite it being a reasonably scarce award and being only two months ago - he can't remember where he saw it

Lets see if the seller can be identified instead and then we might get somewhere.

@Seigfried: You may want to temper your zeal on this issue.

The member bought this at an auction, and the terms of an auction anywhere in the U.S are "as-is, where-is" regardless of an auctioneer's sales-pitch.

The auctioneer could state, for example, that this item "is rumored to have belonged to the Führer himself" but he cannot be held legally responsible if bidders detrimentally relied on such a statement when placing bids.

It is the job of the bidder to ascertain authenticity, condition, provenance, etc, before placing any bids. I've been attending on-site auctions for years and years and I am painfully aware of these legalities surrounding auction acquisitions. It is "Buyer Beware" in the extreme. The auction format essentially serves to "Veil" or "Cloak" both auctioneers and consignors from any liability for fake items (as long as the auctioneer does not state that the authenticity is guaranteed.)

                            .

Wow, touched a nerve there did I?

I'm well aware of Caveat Emptor but still don't like to see fellow collectors being screwed - and the fact that this item was posted here on the WAF for opinions only two months ago by someone who has now conveniently forgotten where those images came from - STINKS.

Your aggressive attitude and the fact that you appear to think that this is an acceptable state of affairs speaks volumes.
