Weird Wh pair ribbon bar contraption

    Good afternoon gents

My apologies for the crappy pictures (I should always use a tripod ) but... Is anybody familiar with this style of ribbon bar mounting system? It uses 2 "clip plates" with screws instead of the various pinback types we usually see and looks well made: all brass; vaulted front ribbon plate; flat back plate with tracks to secure front plate to the back plate & the 2 attachement clips/ screws.

No idea if its a less common period (or earlier) german style bar, a "re-purposed" foreign bar or just a fantasy piece made from a name plate or some other unrelated gismo?

    Thanks for your help

Well from those pics you're right it does look well-made; not like some of the altered, home-made examples with pins or hooks. Even vaulted as well. No idea what the clip setup would be for other than some specific type of uniform, but that's just shot in the dark. The foreign hardware theory could be valid and searching those examples might help.

Interesting to see if there's some other responses. Maybe Pierce or Ron can shed some light on it.

Thanks for the help James, much appreciated. No idea if it was intended for use on a specific type of uniform or not but I think it would fit on standard uniform loops (provided they were large enough) or button hole type reinforced slits

      Best regards
