Medal Bars from the MAX Show

    Hi guys,

I found three, pretty nice medal bars at this weekend's MAX Show: two police bars and one Heer senior officer bar.

Thanks for looking and best regards,
    Tom

Here is the first police bar. This guy would have been born no later than 1879 and was in the military by 1897. Looks like he was a career-oriented NCO but had most of his military service time prior to WW1. He was a "war participant" during WW1 but certainly in some rear-echelon/non-combatant role. And, of course, a long-serving policeman, almost certainly rating the 25-Year LS Cross immediately upon its institution date in 1938. The guy was in his sixties during WW2.

Here is the second police bar. This guy was a WW1 combatant veteran and career policeman, also serving in some air-defense capacity.

      First bar is outstanding.

Can't wait to see the others.

This is a bar to a senior-ranking Heer officer. He was probably a young Bavarian Leutnant in WW1 and definitely not in the military before 1911, since there is no Prinz Regent Luitpold Medal on the bar. But this young Leutnant remained in the military after WW1 and continued to serve during Weimar and the Third Reich. I see this as the bar of an Oberst, and he may have even made Generalmajor during WW2.

Here is the "matching" Feldspange to the previous medal bar. The only difference is that this ribbon bar sports the 1939 KVK2X, which is absent from the medal bar. The medal bar probably dates from 1939 and was never upgraded during WW2. That was very typical for senior officers and NCOs. The ribbon bar is obviously wartime (WW2) since it sports the 1939 KVK2X. Ribbon bars were upgraded during wartime but medal bars not so much.

          Best regards,
          Tom

                      Hi Tom,

Congrats on the three fine Medal Bars. I especially like the Heer Officer with matching Feldspange.

                      Regards,

                        Dear Tom,

Every year you seem to return from the major shows with at least one or two superb bars. It's always a treat for me to see what you've come home with.

More greatness here. Thanks for sharing, as always.
