Italo German medal & ribbon bar

    Hello guys,

I don't see much problems on getting this Italo-German medal and ribbon bar but what are your thoughts?

The medal, ribbon and ribbon bar all seem fine and genuine to me with raised maker marks below the crocodile and on the left side of the soldiers. I'm just not quite sure about the safety needle attached to the ribbon. Are there chances this was added later on? I haven't seen similar needles attached to these ribbons, neither on the forum or somewhere else.

    Like to hear from you,
    Cheers,
    Laurens

The safety pin was probably just someones way (maybe the Vet) of keeping the medal & ribbon bar together. Most likely done after the war I would think.
            Regards,
            Chris

Always interested in buying Ribbon Bars or anything Ribbon Bar related!!

That was my initial thought also, but the safety pin is sewn unto the medal's ribbon....Was probably used to attach onto a uniform and then later stored away together....The medal looks good by the way.....Bodes

                Thanks for the replies, guys
I see nothing wrong with the medal, it was just the safety pin that made me place a new thread here.

                Cheers,
                Laurens

Hi Laurens, medal looks fine . the safetuy pin thou looks fairly new and suspect it was done much later. Nothing to worry about as it is still a very nice looking award. All the best.

                        Detail and markings:
(The only minor point for me are the small scratches near the head of the soldier on the left. However, it's only by using a digital camera that these are enlarged and good visible, otherwise the medal looks very fine.)

Hopefully you like it as much as I do
For me, it's on to the next step, either a Afrika or Afrikakorps cufftitle

                          Cheers,
                          Laurens

I have an Afrika medal that also came with a safety pin. I have seen pictures of soldiers wearing these medals attached to their uniforms. Personally, I would put the pin back on the ribbon. IMO there is a good chance the award recipient used it to wear the medal.
