Yeah ... it's obvious the Obverse and Reverse are different pictures. I'm sure he is hiding something from the reverse he doesnt want us to see.

I could be wrong but the finish looks too new to be an authentic "silver" wound badge anyway.

      hello All,

one question, How we can know if is original any black wounded badge that were painted in silver or gold?
We can only be sure if the paint looks old or without brightness? or we have another method than simple observation.

      regards

Stay away from the supposed original silver WB

The first pic can't confirm any known WB type and the second pic the set-up has been found on a modern good reproduction, some are maker marked L/11 on the Third Reich types...

          Hello,

The 2 images are different is not the same insignia,
The first image, I do not see anything bad but the second do not I know, poor image.

If you are seeking a bwb look at to the sponsors that have BWB good.

          Regards,

          Maximiliano.

It's a difficult question to answer. Many have mixed feelings about whether this practice actually existed or not.

I suppose, one way would be to try and strip the silver or gold off to see whats underneath. A risky proposition that would possibly ruin an authentic piece.

Most references describe only solid Silver / Gold Wound Badges, however, examples have surfaced (like mine above) that appear to be period variants.

The gold coloring on this "hollowback" closely match the color on my other Solid Gold WB:
