Very nice box Brian, and I think Francois will conclude this is a nice genuine example too.

Thanks Marcus, but if he doesn't, I'm still comfortable.

P.S. I would say today the K.M are the most common. From what I've heard a batch was liberated by Canadian vets and appear frequently for sale. They are 100% but more common. IMHO the Army is the rarest example available.

      Rich,

I'm in the same boat mate, I have that sinking feeling....I have several theories and then at the same time sort of discount them.

Brian's box is fine, the material used on his underside on the removable layer and in the bottom of the box is consistant with several other boxes, from the Honour Cross 14-18 to strip's in the EK/KVK boxes of later war manufacture.

I'd also like to see other Heer inside's, Allan !!!

I can't pin Francois' deduction......as assembly and materials do differ as evident on other boxes of the same award type (not the HRC, but other awards in general). And time of issue is a more conclusive factor........i.e for a start I would deduce my boxes as earlier than Brians because of the materail used, paper was firstly used then so on as in Brians. But the Red Herring is the hinge I think.

I would expect the Luft to be of this nature in lining as it was later.

Left Luft - Right Naval ?

There are faint variations in the navy clasps with boxes. I had 2 clasps with polished highlights and 2 without. I cannot remember which was which but one kind had very feint parallel lines running in the white paper under the insert the other kind did not.

Well, to avoid missunderstandings, variations exist hinge, paper........ but there is a specific case for Heer, one for LW and one for KM (according to observations I have made with J. Calero)

Now to be able to make the difference, should allow one not to buy a made up set.

Listen to what I have said, look at examples of each (Army, LW, KM) in fact better: post an example of each and sdon't be disappointed by the solution

I just noticed your pic as well, thats the one in the book.....I am right it has to be !!!

It's the only ruddy difference left !!!!

White or blue give white and blue...........'white and blue' the 'pull tag' on a Luft box.
