    Honour Roll Clasp boxes

    Hi all,

One, maybe, has been able to deduce a difference between the boxes,

I never had a clue that there were three, I only can see two and a multitude of variations from outer covering to hinges.

I have two boxes which are the same all blue inside, and thought these were just compatible with Naval and Luft Clasp's.

I don't even know if my Naval Clasp is in the correct box now, could it be Luft we'll see.

Threads like this are an important part of the definitive deatils of the history of German awards.

I'm looking forward to the posting's on here, and feel I have alot to learn.

If you own any army, navy or airforce awards, please would you be so kind as to post the boxes, with everybody's help I'm going to learn about these, I hope you'll find it as interesting and learn a thing or two as well.

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

I don't what type of box this would have been intended for navy or airforce, I keep my Naval clasp in it though, the other box in better condition is exact in every detail, bar award maker label.

Could this be Luft as there is no metal catch and they were later awards ? And the earlier (or as date permitted) have slightly differnt boxes due to the time factor of when being awarded ?

well I would like to hear some proposal, to see some pics ...... in fact to see more people interested rather than Marcus and me as I will not give the solution, I will help to find it only (at least what I have observed) - so questions, proposals ....... you have to participate as it is for everybody's knowledge

I have two KM cases !!! Thank you Francois

Uuummm this leads on to further thought that our late Bill Stump and I conversed about, the makers label on my box, there is perhaps more than one maker to the KM Clasp's and more than likely the others......there was alot of deliberation at one time........I don't confess to understand any of it.

Allan/Rob where are you, post your's please.

                  Francois,

Is it the outer covering, and when they were issued.......1st generation box, 2nd and 3rd, as each award was sanctioned by it's own 'Ministry' there entailed different makers too, for Luft and Marine esp. As they were introduced at different times/periods. And like different makers of EK they chose different 'outer coverings', these awards were more specific and less general than an EK, and the 'Ministry of Navy or Luft' was more influencial maybe ?

The hinge is a misconception and like in EK's was availability (box maker) and money and the fact that medals where made in 'regions' to specific makers.

                  Warm ?

                          inside

Clasp instituted in 1944. I would guess, one type.

We need more examples now, any Luft out owners out there please ?

Very nice box Brian, and I think Francois will conclude this is a nice genuine example too.
