    ... and now the story unfolds. Thank you luftkrieg and Chen. Now, I'm interested in this fire. I hope, Chen, you can find reference to it in that book. How was this baton burned?

        I am wondering :
        1.What is that black shaft? Is it still the original shaft? If so , is it painted black after the fire damage?
        2. The eagles and swastika looks untouched, are they repaired or replaced? Who did that? Are these still gold?
        3. Why not re-velvet the shaft?
        All these questions will put some weights on the value of this baton.

            The baton is in Keitel's family.
            Is it? Next to the baton is a letter shown signed by his daugther, talking about a sale of the baton.

                            I was wondering how Godet&Sohn was involved in this field, until I found this invoice. 72 pairs of Marshal´s Batons for shoulder boards, solid silver.

                              Accordingly to HH's booklet:
                              1.Godet & Sohn was the firm to produce that 3 Luft. FM batons for the July ,40 field marshal award ceremony( see photo).
                              2. Every bearer in the ceremony( total 12 bearers) was given 6 sets for 3 uniforms.
