Questionable 2nd class with swords in bronze in Keller packet

This type always raises 2 questions:
1. Why did Keller manufacture the Bronze Grade with the swords only and nothing else in Ostvolker line (not logical)
2. All other packets for Ostvolker award, observed by myself, has Antiqua fonts and only this, Keller type, has a Fraktur font. (medal was instituted on 14 July 1942 and Fraktur fonts was prohibited from early 1941).

I need to mention too, that this type WITHOUT THE SWORDS was reported once as a dugout (Relic) example from the Kurland Fields.

Some collectors attributed this type to 57 type and some reported that , five-seven years ago Niemann sold them very cheap as 57 type. (I would appreciate, if somebody can remember this and prove)

Questionable 2nd class with swords in bronze marked “100” with and without swords.

Very interested examples. Again you can see them only in bronze grade, some made from zinc, some from tombak. You can see both example, in zinc and tombak, almost always in mint conditions.(which is very suspicious for me).

a. 2nd class in bronze with swords, made from tombak with maker “100” on the ring. Very, very questionable. In 1942 all awards for German soldiers made from zinc and here… oops surprise, medal for foreigners made from tombak???? Never reported dugout.
I marked very lack of details and differences from original type1 flatback medal.

All other types, you can recently see for sale on ebay, in my opinion, is modern repros, especially the type with big suspension ring and faked zinc bubbles.

Thank you for posting all of this information. Great job!

Do you have any larger images of the type you show in post #31 & 32 (the questionable Souval-type and the Souval packet)? Both that medal and packet look original to me.

As you know, I also like the type that is found in the Keller packets. I would be very surprised to learn that those medals and packets are not original.
