Attached are a couple of pictures of a bronze Memel. The colour has not come out too well but it is definitely bronze not zinc.

            Hi Macmedal,

that site has some quite good repos. It's just as well the Occupation Medals have too much detail on them otherwise they would be hard to spot. They even have realistic colour for a 60 year old medal.

The EK's look especially good on the webpage. Not sure if they would fool once you got your hands on them though.

              Sorry forgot,

Lee what weight is your medal? I assume from your comments that you are sure your medal is a fake, is it like Seba's? If so what weight is it.

                Hello,

The weight is about 15-16g with the pin and ribbon.

The one i have is the same as seba's from what i see from his picture.

                lee.

I dont know if this was addressed or not, but notice how some Memels, at the base of the wreath on the reserve, have a triangle shape between the ribbon, while some show the ends of the branches. Also, some, but not most it seems, have pillars(on which the eagle is on) that extend to the rim, such as George's cased L/11 Austrian medal. I have a Austrian Anschluss medal ( BTW marked L/58 or L/50 - looks like 8 though ) which have the pillar lines to the rim, as well as a Memel.
                  Best,

                  John Harman

                    AND!

                    John,

You're right about the "triangle vs. branches" but not only that, I have just noticed on my Memel medals what appear to be a pair of letters under the triangle -- but the letters are not apparent on the examples with the branch ends!

Man, they're small! "A. I."? Can anyone see them better than I can?
(I'll try to post a better picture tomorrow.)

                    George

Here are the letters, a little larger.

                      And, from another example:

Bloody Hell John, well done, I don't know how we all missed that one!

My Memel is also the triangle variant with as George says what appears to be letters bellow. I will try to re-scan a good close up tomorrow at work. I can't even begin to guess what they might be at the moment, or yours George!

Hi, I have an "L/11" marked medal for the Entry into Austria. The marking is stampted onto the bottom rim of the medal at the "six o'clock" position. The medal is well used and has lost a lot of it's finish and appears to be made of brass. I have owned it since the late 1970's. Anyone else seen this marking?
                          Cheers, Ade.

Here is a post of the markings at the bottom of my Memel.

The letters appear to be A.C. or H.C.

I used a couple of microscopes intended for the checking of paint samples at work but due to the lack of ability to change lenses couldn't make them out any better than that.

Adrian, I haven't seen any other Occupation medals marked on the rim yet, could you post a picture?

I just looked at all 26 of my full-sized Flower Wars medals and none had a maker's mark on the six o'clock position on the rim, or on the obverse or reverse at that position. Could you post a picture of yours?
                                Thanks!
