Ost 41/42 Medal Flaw Opinions Please...

I was looking at a couple of my Ost medals, & noticed a flaw on one that got me thinking.

What I noticed is that the "/" between the 1941 & 42 dosen't appear to be there at all, only a faint shadow, but no perceptibly raised slash.

Also the left leg on the "A" in "WINTERSCHLACHT" appears to be raised or "kicked" up underneath it.

    So basically is it:
    a) A maker's defect, something unique to a particular maker,
    b) A manufaturing flaw, something that happened to this particular medal during the manufacturing process or
    c) It's a fake & not worth the metal it's made of.

    Here's a comparison shot.

        Bizarre

        Chris,
That is an odd one. I have checked over a few, I looked at maker marked pieces, 6, 65 and 20 and none of them shared those traits. Could be a manufacturer flaw like you suggest, seems almost like too simple a mistake for a faker to make.

          Osti medal

I checked mine out and non are like yours. Has it got lots of bubbling ?
All mine have paint bubbling that is really noticable under a magnify glass. It doesn't look like a fake but it's hard to tell by pictures. Pretty common medal.

            Thanks for the replies guys.

No real bubbling that I can see, but does look worn.

Probably just some type of flaw from the manufacturing process.
