Interesting observation guys. Never seen this before. I looked at a couple I used to own (March and October medals) and they both appear NOT to have this anomaly.

Thanks gentlemen for your time and effort.
I do not think these medals with the B are postwar copy"s
It is possible these are test pieces, that would stand a chance
If you look at the quality of these badges shown in this thread and compare them with other original pieces there is no difference.
If these are postwar pieces why are there a few on the market, and the copy''s are better to make without the B imo
Best regards.

another interjection
Speaking of fakes, repos, I apologize if bringing up a tangental question on this thread regarding fakes is inappropriate but perhaps this will fit in with the other memel thread of 10-8-09, "Another Memel!".
In my original thread,
http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=382512
I presented all 3 occupation medals made by the same mfr, "16", stamped on the ring with all the commentators rejecting them as fakes.
I have tried to research the forum and the leads suggested by the commentators. Here is a quote from a long-time, well-regarded dealer that I recently sent pics to on these medals of mine and who had seen these medals from a 3d party before I acquired them. (I am not the "someone who wanted them".)
I won't disclose the dealer's name at this time without his permission.
"Van
I do not think these medals came from me, do not remember ever selling this
group, he got a lot of items off ebay before the ban. He e-mail several
months back about these medal, he had someone who wanted them, he ask me if
I would be interested, yes was my answer, never heard back from him, as
being fakes, they only say this because they all were found around the same
time and the rings are marked, this is the only maker I have ever seen on
these medals, others I have had over the years were unmarked, when
something show up different they get scared. I am in Pittsburgh for the MAX
show,"
To make a short story instead of posting all the links I've found at this time but can do if requested, I would like to see some sort of authenticating reference regarding "big nose", "mask", as being definitely fakes as opposed to the above dealer opinion. For want of better wording it seems to me so far that all I have seen are opinions without any base substantiation. Is there any? Please do not interpret my comments as insulting anyone. I hope that I am presenting legitimate points and questions.
regards, van
