agree with Scott I have in the past many medals of Spain (in Italy is
really common) without the small triangle, I think the great difference
is the ball suspension. In photo one medal without ring and ribbon
present me from a Spain veteran

        Ciao Quex,

Thank you for posting this beautiful medal.
Ok belonged to a veteran, but it could be possible to be given to him in the late 40's or 50's or even in the 60's...

        regards

Thanks Scott for posting that. This makes it very interesting.
I think i must agree with you that MOST original Spanish Campaign medals have the added "Balloon".
Your 2 medal bars are the first i have seen WITHOUT the "balloon".
Any more information/pictures greatly welcomed. I think that when seen on a Third Reich medal bar they can be dated more easily. Could there be a difference between 1938 issue & late WWII issue?
          Ant.

Here's an interesting comparison of at least three types of SCW campaign medals. The center medal has the "baloon" shape front & back (green circles). The left medal is maker-marked on the back, while the center and right medals are marked on the front in different locations (red circles)...and the medal posted by Quex above has another type of maker mark (horizontal rather than sharply angled)

Quex - a very nice document! I believe Egana was the only authorized manufacturer of the SCW Campaign Medal.

CIANO - could you please post clear, close photos of the front and back of your medal with the unusual loop at the top?

                      Thank you.

CIANO - thank you. I've never seen a SCW campaign Medal made by anyone other than Egana, and it will be interesting to compare the details of yours with those of others posted here.

I found out that the medal was designed by Captain Aurelio Perote Martinez, and was adopted by: Industrias Egaña, Motrico, the 5th of May 1938.

                            Regards,
                            Adolph.

Just to confuse this whole discussion further - the signature on the medal I have is on the back underneath the helmet at the bottom. There is an additional "signature" on the front on the left hand side next to the talons - it appears to read "A.M".

Yes, you´re right. I have one of them double marked with "Industrias Egaña" at the back and "AM" at the front. I´ll try to take some pictures tomorrow. This thread is getting really interesting.
