    Honor Cross Assman?

Does my Honor Cross have the Assman & Son makers mark on it?
If so is that MM rare or more desirable?
    Thanks,
    Eric Gaumann

Here's mine. These cross are common and I would not assume that this maker mark would make a great difference...I could be wrong of course (not keen on your markings by the way)

        Thanks Terry!
Nice shot of your crisp and clean MM. I note some variations between the two MMs. I need to do a search here for some images.

            Hi Eric,

From what I havce seen maker marks dont seem to make much of a difference on price for these pieces. The only cross that might bring a small premium are parade mounted versions or the all bronze version (correct me if I am wrong George...).

The Assmann marks is a stylized person. Your maker mark for the stylized "A" seems to be missing the top hat portion of the "A". Perhaps it is just the picture.

                  Hi Gary,

I've a little fondness for these awards. Regarding maker marks, well it will be only a matter of time I'm sure if interest is generated enough in these crosses that dealers will price them accordingly maker wise

So far it's only the maker mark CEJ or the L/** marked crosses that fetch a few more pounds, to be honest the CEJ ones aren't that rare, I'd say more the Ldo marked version as being the more desirable.

The all non magentic bronze grade, I've never seen one for sale, I did however purchase one by a mistake on a medal bar though !! I didn't know what I'd got until it was pointed out to me.

                    Dear Marcus,

I agree that eventually the prices on these will start to rise as collector interest increases in collecting the variations by maker marks. These are probably one of the "cheapest" TR awards avaialble. From what I have seen there is a plethora of makers to collect, 50?? 100??

Luckily, these are still affordable and not faked (or at least not faked in good copies) and demand isn't that great, although every piece on e-bay (if not overpriced) is sold. On a gun show a few months ago >i tried to exchange a few of them, but find no interest. So I decided to keep them and start a small collection of different makers

Is there any web page/book where all the makers are listed? Are even all of them identified?

                      Regards, Valter

I'll stick my head out and question the cross posted by Eric. If any HC has been faked, this must be it. The maker's mark appears to be hand made and the metal looks fishy. Furthermore, why would Assman use a suspension ring, quite different from the one normally seen on these crosses?

                          Valter,

I believe that some people on this forum have listed the ones that they own by maker mark. Do a search and you could probably find the list. None of the lists were complete. As I mentioned before there wereALOT of different manufacturers for these pieces.

Peter, I agree that the MM looks unusual, not like the otehr Assman marks shown.
