Great photo Bill! Interesting study of their tropical uniforms. I am intrigued by the one wearing a tropical tunic with the eagle removed after it had already faded.

Willi...you may also notice that he is wearing Army (Heer) insignia but sports a LW FJ Badge...possible Brandenburg? The others are Luftwaffe FJ.

        Heer tunic?

        Hi guys,

I don't think that Heer tunic was his originally. Look at the sleeves, not a good fit. As they are POWs, maybe he is just wearing whatever was available.

        Cheers,

        George.

          George,

That is a possibility but not 100%...usually POW's were captured with what they had on their backs especially those with their faded Tropical tunics from the Africa campaign...most of them are still wearing their insignia. That changed later as they were ordered to remove their insignia and decorations and issued PW marked clothing in US POW Camps by the time POW's from Italy started showing up. POW's in Canada and a few in France were the exception to that rule.

Great photos Bill! I really like the one of the FJs holding their helmets and #2905 of the FJ holding and looking at the knee pads.
