Of course, who can forget this very popular image from Operation Rösselsprung (see photo 6 of 33) … http://alifrafikkhan.blogspot.com/20...bataillon.html
Or this one from Drvar … see photo 14 of 33.
Or this one from Operation Panzerfaust in Budapest during October 1944 … see photo 23 of 33.
The mountain boot appears to have been a common and popular item of issue.

In fact, some of the most famous images from Operation Rösselsprung show many of Kurt Rybka's men wearing them instead of jump boots. Here's one of the more interesting ones ... https://i.pinimg.com/originals/65/68...824f6d1ead.jpg

The SS-Fallschirmjager who received the Heer badges did not receive their A4 Fallschirmschutzen-Abzeichen des Heeres certificates until November and December 1944, if they got them at all. The unit had to request for the documents through SSFHA, which then processed them and sent them back to the SS-Fsch.-Jg- Btl. for distribution.
The first two or three SS courses through Fallschirmschule III in Serbia got Fallschirmschutzen-Abzeichen des Heeres but the small stock obtained by the battalion's training wing was quickly used up.
Most if not all of the Brandenburg Fallschirmjager received the Fallschirmschutzen-Abzeichen des Heeres. The majority of the production of Fallschirmschutzen-Abzeichen des Heeres was delivered to OKH, which had priority, while the SS-Fallschirmjager Btl. , formed three months beforehand, only managed to acquire a few.

For those who haven't already seen this film clip, here is a short description of the history of the SS-Fallschirmjäger-Bataillon 500/600.

Please take it with a grain of salt as many of the photographs are out of sequence or show the combat actions of LW Fallschirmjäger units. Still, the video does fairly well in capturing the major operations of this unique organization.
