    SS paratrooper 500/600 Soldbuch

Soldbuch of a soldier of SS Fallschirmjäger Battailon 500/600, who changed from SS Panzergrenadier Regiment 3 to the paratroopers.
He belong to the staff and not to the penal soldiers( pistol entry).
Page 17/18 got cut out (told because of an Oranienburg entry?)

        Excellent indeed!

I really like the three SS FJ unit stamps, especially the Feldausbildung Kompanie one. And the issue of the P35 pistol.

Very good question Sergey. Given all the zinc wartime Heer badges out there, I always wondered about this.

What an incredible thread this is!

An extremely rare find, beef_supreme! And fantastic photo, Eric!

My thanks to both of you for your postings. Great history in both artifacts.

                          ****** Rumor Alert ******

According to my truly novice research over the past four or five years, the first SS-Fallschirmjägers were awarded the Luftwaffe badge in early 1944 following their jump training in Hungary. That I know for a fact.

What I've never been able to corroborate is this following story … tale … rumor. However, many collectors have claimed that at this point Göring supposedly became enraged that SS men had been awarded a Luftwaffe badge and demanded that all future Fallschirmjägers be issued the Heer badge.

Is that a true story? I don't know. It's an intriguing tale, though. One that I wish I could verify. Period photographs and portraits - like Eric's up above - certainly make it look as though there was a deliberate switch from the Luftwaffe badge to the Heer badge in mid- to late-1944. Did that have anything to do with Göring? I don't know. Maybe one of you can help me.

****** End of Rumor Alert ******

In any case, great post, beef_supreme! Thanks!
