Yes, this is the standard "apple green" as seen on most DD para helmets up till about 1940. I believe you can sometimes find darker shades of the same , semi-gloss green, but these are much less common.

ok so this is a lighter shade of field gray/ green, then ? right? My point is what is the color apple green, I am inclined to believe that it is a lighter shade of field gray green, and later examples were darker shades of gray green , even late war black geen etc.. I need to know because people ask me for apple green and then i have to explain to themn that there are diferant shades.. thi is a good example of early war so it will do well ty again

I guessed right on first helmet that it was dodgy getting better at this "find the dodgy helmet" game.

Speaking for Heer/KM/SS/Polizei helmets the early(pre-war) color was a lighter green that was slightly drab which was coined "pea green". Later(1938-39) the color became a more glossy darker green which was coined "apple green".

            I agree.
Glenn's helmet is a M38 ( 1938 onwards ) and is in what is commonly agreed to be "apple green". I don't think there is an agreed term for all the later shades of green ( glossy and matt ) that followed .

                      Jager,

Colour is the hardest thing to put into words. Here is a picture for you...courtesy of Kelly Hicks' book "SS Steel". Pea-green on the left and apple-green on the right.

                      Cheers,

Wow, you must have written the book "How do make friends and influence people". Don't be surprised if the next time you ask for help the knowledgeable collectors do not respond.
