    Then and Now Dordrecht,Rotterdam,Rijsoord,Moerdijk ect.

I love to look at then and now threads/pictures . Beside collecting I also find it interesting to find the same photo location to make a then and now photo.
The pictures that I use in this thread do not come from my own collection but from the internet. I hope that the rightful owners have no problem with it that I use the pictures, I only use them for comparing the location(s) .

Some then and now photos you will have already seen on the forum and some might not. The locations are mainly of Dordrecht, Rotterdam, Moerdijk, Rijsoord etc.
I will try to post regularly new then and now locations.

    For the interested…..enjoy thumbs

    Rijsoord, Rijksstraatweg

This picture was taken in Rijsoord , Rijksstraatweg .
The mill on the background was moved in 1991 from the Waaldijk to the Waalweg.

Source of the picture : WaroverHolland
information about the picture : German transport near Rotterdam - may 1940
A platoon of German Fallschirmjäger, but fitted with the regular Heer boots. These men may have been fitted out with boots after regrouping at the 11th, for regular FJR had no such boots on. It may also have been soldiers from the 2nd Batt of the 2.FJR, who had not finished jumpschool yet, and were flown in by regular landing.

Possibly this truck load was on its way to Dordrecht, and part of the Gruppe De Boer that headed for the southeast of the city. The truck is faced into the direction of Dordrecht, and since indeed this outfit moved itself around on commandeered Dutch trucks, it seems likely to presume this picture was taken before or during the transport.

            Waalhaven ,Rotterdam

Intersection with the Charloise Hooge Dijk [Korperweg / Schulpweg]. Five parachutists and two men of 22 (LL) .id pose for the photographer PK. It is all too likely that this picture was put in scene or with malice recommended by one of the photographers PK was taken. It is possibly the most famous photographs of the airborne landings in May 1940.
