John, the pouch is dated and marked on the leather belt loop. '1943' and what appears, but not positive, to be 'bla'. 'WaA159' as well.

Edit: I have read the duscussion in the other thread, but still don´t know where (country/factory) and why they used the .30 bnelts.

Because they were on hand and sturdy enough für sewing belt loops and straps?

I suspect there are many more out there than first thought. How many more are sitting on dealers shelves labelled as "unknown pouch" ?

Now that they have been "identified" - the word is likely to spread quickly. Good luck to all you early FJ collectors !
