      Giday everyone,

Erich, the Fallschirmjäger's name is Sepp Jendryschik. He was originally a member of 12/FJR 1. After recovering from wounds received in Russia, Sepp Jendryschik was transfered to a Foreign Armies East front line reconaissance detachment where no doubt being part polish and his language skills were of assistance in tracking down partisans.

      All the best,

      Ian

        Ian,

May I ask you where you got the information about Sepp Jendryschik? I received that photo from an old FJ friend by the name of Willi Fretz who fought at Monte Cassino. He informed me that his friend Sepp made it back to Germany without being taken prisoner in 1945. I also met RK wiinner Alexander Uhlig at Willi's home in Rohrbach (Kreis Sinsheim), Germany. I received an autograph photo from Herr Uhlig along with a signed Biography sheet. I was rather impressed with Alexander Uhlig's exploits/accomplishments and that he was the only German POW to escape from England...albeit after the war ended. Bill

                    Hi Bill-
If I am not mistaken, Sepp Jendryschik features in the booklet by Greg Way, but I have not got the booklet actually here to double-check. If I am not mistaken the same photograph that you posted, is the one of Herr Jendryschik in the booklet. All the best

                      You are right, JimUK.
Greg Way depicts Herr Jendryschik´s memories of his action in Heraklion. As Ian has well pointed up, after Kreta he also fought in the Neva Front (Leningrad). Afterwards, he was trasnferred to a reconaissance detachment to track down partisan actions behind the German lines.

                        Jim & Oscar,

Thank you for the information. I've had that photo for about 12 years and knew he was in Kreta but never realized what his exploits were after that. Willi only told me that his friend had avoided capture by the allies and simply went home. Maybe his experiences hunting Partisans helped him avoid capture. I never heard of the booklet by Greg Way while living in Germany. I will have to try to obtain one. Thanks again Bill

Here's another Kreta photos, no names on the reverse, looks as if it was taken out of an album. Am I mistaken but the Fj about to stand looks as if he has applied a tarn cover to his helmet.
