    Holland and Crete Grouping !

    Fritz Weller 9./FJR 1

Fritz took part in the annexation of Prague, he also took part in the Holland and Crete campaigns! Unfortunately he was killed on the 1st day of battle in Crete around Heraklion.

Nearly all the entries in his WP have been signed by FJ KC Winner Horst Kerfin

I have been after this grouping for a really long time and just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Andy for finally selling it to me after I bugged him for so long!!!

I feel honoured to own this very special grouping !

If anyone can help me with a bit more info regarding the 9./FJR 1 it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Shaun

Indeed Shaun, this is an incredible and superb grouping, and a somber remembrance for a fallen soldier.

Very very nice Shaun, but you already knew that

From my research, I think he dropped on Waalhaven airfield being part of II./FJR 1 and likely didn't fight in Dordrecht. Although Dordrecht is mentioned on the EK2 doc, I think he might just have recieved the award there and not necessarily fought there.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                            Hi Tom,

To be more correct, it was III./FJR1 that dropped on Waalhaven, with 9., 10. and 11. (without Zug Kerfin) fighting over the Airfield (12./FJR1 was dropped to far away to engage in the fighting). III./FJR1 was afterwards send to Dordrecht and indeed involved in the fightings over there.
(Sources f.e. several Gefechtsberichten II./FJR1 and III./FJR1, Verleihungsliste "Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe" FJR1)

                            Best Regards,

                            Ypenburg
