Many thanks Allan! Glad the book made it safely. Looking forward to more discussions about militaria with you.

John, I agree with you with the patch of the 1.Kp. I/Rgt.3. I am not sure about the 2.Kp., in my pics I have another patch wore by member of the 2nd. But this could be even just a platoon patch. This is really hard to say.
About the "observer", which 1st company are you referring to? I was sure for months that this was the patch of the 4.Kp. then I talked with a vet of the 4.Kp(I./Rgt.3) and he said that they never wore a patch in Africa...Right now, I cannot really associate it to any Kp.
The loops are really intriguing to me. All Btl. had ,as you know, a different color. Really hard to find stuff.
The lager sign was also amazing

John, by the way, the highly decorated Oberjäger on page 106 is the later Feldwebel Eugen Griesser 5.Kp. Rgt.6

                  John,
I too received a copy of your book last week. Very nice selection of items and I am still looking at it.

Hmmm, it would seem that my previous post has disapeared. The publisher had some issues with sending me my copy but I expect to receive it within this week. I have not seen the book in the flesh yet but the sample images I have seen have been visually stunning. Looking forward to posting some substantive comments/questions regarding the content once I have had the oportunity to read through it.

Congratulations again John for getting this to press. A labor of love indeed, but a lot of labor nonetheless.

The forum server crashed yesterday evening. All postings/ threads created in the evening (for about a 2 hour period) were lost.

John's book was a very popular subject of conversation at the show. It also sold exceptionally well! I should know since I had a table next to my friend Jack Hatter of "Volume Control" and observed numerous sales; some of which I assisted with.

...I bought some extras for friends this week, should have done this earlier, and can sign them for those interested.

                        Best,
                        John

Sir, did you save one for a person in Chicago?

There are some great photos in the book as well as choice items. Here is one I find to be very cool! A group of FJs in recently issued (minty, aka known as "surplus") tropical uniforms. Note the tropical buckles which you seldom encounter so clearly in era photos.

Willy, I agree with you, an amazing pic. At least 2 of them was ex FIB/FIK paratroopers. Note the Heer para badge (2nd Guy from left) and Walter Rümmler (left).
