        This is the correct type of buckle ( I hope you don't mind me using your photo Gareth ) . Note it is the same as Gerd's. Compare it to photo #7 which are the type found on the side of some trousers.

          There are a few variations possible on these type of straps, type of leather used and style, but I have never seen one with the buckle as presented by Mayer nor with aluminum grommets.

            Yes Ben, I agree. Several levels of quality on the leather used. I have one which seems to have a paper content and another which used a very nice quality of leather. Both also have a different shape to the tip of the strap.

                i was also concerned about this one, but not really sure to 100%! Anyway it was intresting to know your thought and showing you this well done piece IMO. Probable a new generation of fakes
