Strange, the material colour and type is the very same used for the wound badge cases or sorts.

The base code seems to be a correct too (found in Observers and Pilots cases too.....variations exist also)

The case shell is not late war but of mid war origin, the base material of a lmid/latter to latter peirod not late war, the combination is likely a late war assembly or rather adaption and use of materials.

Considering the case cost more that the badge to produce and the case would have been subjected to a quality control assessment I'd deem it an acceptable sorts personally

Alternately it could be a post war put together of parts for sales to Allied troops and that sort of thing - one thing is regardless the parts are genuine and an example of this case needs to go in my book for sure !!!!
