      Hi Gary, looks like it could be sawdust, although mostly scrubbed off so can probably never tell, may have a chance. Any info as to where it came from, any inside shots and lot number ?

                  I agree with you, the straps are not original in my opinion and camouflage paint too. It is strange that no one except you noticed this.

                        Unfortunately , the paint also bad, Roger..
                        I would ask the owner start the separate thread regarding this helmet ,where I could confirm all, if he really wants know truth about it.
