My helmet has fine sawdust and nearly all is retained, if I recall correctly John's helmet has more coarse sawdust and has a different application done perhaps at a different time.

There are other examples similar to mine from Normandy Vets and they all display the same fine sawdust mixture used by FJR6, it is not worn away coarse texture.

Please correct me if I am wrong, I am not an FJ expert by any means. Thanks. More photos attached

Some have fine sawdust and others have coarse sawdust with obvious wood chips mixed with it. The coarse ones tend to lose their coating very easily. On some the green stripes are pronounced, and on others they are not. It all points to helmets being painted at different times and probably by different people. However the basic construction of the camo is the same.
