    The Elusive RGG Portrait Photo

After 25 years of looking, it finally came in the mail today. I have never seen, nor heard of, another RGG portrait with the paratrooper badge in wear. (I am sure there are others out there, just I have never seen one)

IMO, by far more rare than even FIK portrait photos. Nice Berlin (where RGG was garrisoned) photographers stamp on the reverse.

Wow, that is a very rare photo Eric! Never thought I would see a RGG tunic with a Luft jump badge.

I once had a NCO RGG tunic which was a vet pickup. Same red piped white tabs. Never would have realized how great it would have looked with an early Luft badge.

Can you add anything about the striped blouse? Is that something you would expect see or what?

I would expect to see that in Studio 54 maybe, but not in a WWII picture. That is really interesting.

Great Photo! Now we are waiting for the ultimative RGG-photo showing white tabs, badge and "RGG" cufftitle!

I think that the piping is green (for jäger).

                  Eric,
That picture even makes a steel collector drool.
                  Thanks,
                  John

Who or what organization gave the first RGG volunteers their airborne training?

Did the initial RGG fallschirmjager serve as cadre members when the school at Stendal was first organized?

                    Thanks,
                    Gerry

The striped shirt is civilian and not military issue and was just worn under the tunic to take the picture.

Sounds likely. Could of been taken for use by an artist to create a 'painted portrait'?

By the way what does RGG stand for?
Opps! My bad Google got it for me. (Regiment General G******246;ring)

                          Hi Eric,
Great picture indeed! I too love the shirt; what a fashion statement. You will notice too that this is a custom tailored tunic, not issue (see the scalloped pocket flaps). This may explain the non-standard shirt.
The color of the piping to the collar tabs is another interesting area. Theorhetically, they were to be yellow, but these do not appear to be yellow. George Petersen told me years ago that he had never seen any collar tabs piped in rifle green. Now maybe this changed over the last 10 to 15 years.
                          Fun stuff!
                          Thanks for sharing,
                          Curtiss

Very nice indeed. Now I have to revise my statement. I don't recall seeing these before. Jean-Yves can you tell anything about the piping on the collar tabs? Great stuff. Have never seen an RGG studio portrait with the band and badge together (that is my next target!!)
