I don't normally dredge up old topics, but in my research of the Hermann Goring regiment, I found the following information from the Bender and Peterson book on Hermann Goering: From Regiment to Fallschirmpanzerkorps.

    From the book:

"The basic Luftwaffe uniforms were worn by all personnel of the Regiment with the addition of the 'General Goring' cuff title and the white Waffenfarbe. As of December 1, 1935, the Regiment consisted of:

    Regimentstab, I. Jager-Battalion, II. Jager-Battalion, III. Flak-Abteilung

The Waffenfarben for the above units was white, but with the following additions:

a.)officers-white with aluminum embroidery and aluminum piping
b.)NCOs and men (except in Flak-Abteilung) - white with rifle-green piping
c.)NCOs and men (from the Flak-Abteilung) - white with bright red piping"

He goes on to mention that this carries on until October 1, 1937, when the Regiment was enlarged and reorganized. Only members of the specific Fallschirm Battalion wore the white tabs with yellow trim, with other units continuing to wear the other trim as before.

This practice would have probably carried on until the unit became I./FJR1 in 1938 and wore the entirely yellow collar tabs. As a result, the reason that so few photographs/examples exist of this in practice is we are looking for ONE battalion of ONE regiment with a practice that was utilized in place for less than 6 months, whereas the green and red were utilized for much longer, and by the remainder of the regiment.

I know this is technically a necropost, but it is my hope that this information can maybe answer some questions in case the answer has been nagging at others, as I know it has been bugging me for a while as well, and I am finally relieved to have one more questioned marked off my long list of things I need to learn about.
    Jon

-Edit: I missed the small section in which this information was already presented to a limited degree. I should really read the threads more closely....my apologies on that one!!! Jon

Sorry, but I got this photo detail from an RGG-collector who is never posting photos or other stuff in message boards and has no interests to post complete photos. It was hard enough to get that piece for this thread. The Unteroffz. belonged to Landespolizeigruppe General G******246;ring before he joined the Fallschirmsch******252;tzen-Bataillon "RGG" in 1937. Some photos show him and other soldiers with dark piped tabs and a very few with very light piping (could only be yellow, because the photo is from 1937).

          That******180;s all.

Nice portrait, but with red collar tab piping.

Nice, but has nothing to do with the RGG-paratroopers. Flak red piped tabs.

I will throw this in the mix. I have shown this hat before. I am not an expert or even a good student of the subject ,but here is a hat in my collection that I got from a friend who picked this up in a lot from a vet in upstate New York years ago. Along with an early SS fez and late war dachau style ss m43 which I also aquired and still have. I believe the markings or stamps are 100% correct to the hat. The only thing I did to this hat was clean it and reshape it some. Presented humbly for your observations and interjections.

That´s strange, normally the "RGG" hats had white pipings.

Yes I believe later ones had white . I think this may be transitional. Yellow piping on the hat to match the yellow around the collar tabs. Then the hat was carried over to FJR1.

I think this conversation is going into the wrong direction: You can not compare the "RGG" color tab piping with the cap pipings. The piping of the enlisted ranks visored cap, worn by members of "RGG"/Fsch.Pz.Korps "HG", was always WHITE (1936-45). That******180;s why I was woundering about your yellow piped cap with "RGG" stamps.

That was my speculation , I was assuming it could be the reason and that it may be transitional . The RGG stamp is period and original to the hat along with the FJR1 stamp. Why , I don't know then.
