Glad we are getting some more interest in the bags. There are just so rare and few really know them. Like most other items, once you study the originals, you won't be fooled. Joseph, is that trop tin available? I need one, if anyone comes up with a spare.
Here is a view of a gas mask bag in bluegray. These are less common than green/olive ones. One FJ veteran clearly recalls his bag was in bluegray, and one of the Willrich postcards of the victors of Eben Emael clearly shows a FJ with a bluegray bag.
Here is a view of the back. Note the impression made by the round spare lenses tin...been there a long time. From the detailed photos of this bag, it is clear it is an original.
Very neat bag! Thanks for the call Willi, good talking with you. It's a shame we don't get to compare 'notes' more often than at the MAX. I bet a lot of early bags were blue/grey.
Here a repro gas mask bag that sold on ebay. From the Czech Republic, what a surprise . Considering a real one just sold on ebay a few weeks ago.........
While on this topic, and thanks to Steve and Joseph's tip, I just received a few of the lense tins for gas mask bags. Note the two different dates and 3-digit maker's marks.
