I see nothing wrong. Splinters come in many different base colours. I have seen some this colour before. How about you John/Willi/others ?

We should be grateful Tom dosn't use genuine PRYM snaps and original zips on his smocks !

      Regards,
      Steve

        Hi Bob and Steve,

I see no problem with the colors either. Willi and I have seen many splinter smocks with all kinds of subtle color variations. Sometimes the inks are printed thickly and other times more thin, making the colors lighter. Or sometimes the green ink is dark while the brown ink is thin, sometimes this is reversed.

The base fabric can vary too, especially in late war smocks, and the base color affects the hue of the ink printed on top of it. As we have discussed here, some smocks were even printed on the off white material that sniper smocks were made from. In this case, a third color had to be printed similar to the "base" green of the fabric of most smocks.

All these contribute to different "looks" of the splinter.

        Then there is fading

          Hi Steve and John,

thanks for clarifying the colour issue , IMHO i never thought there was anything wrong with it,though when your standing, kneeing in the middle of a field trying to take pictures and its atleast 85 degrees with not a cloud in the sky the colour is going to look somewhat different.
          Regards
          Bob
