    Captured British/American uniforms

    Hi Gents,
I know that captured British/ Commonwealth uniforms were used by FJs at certain times. We have heard this was so in Crete , before German tropical uniforms were issued , in that captured tropical uniforms were issued after the island was taken. There are pictures at the awards ceremonies that then followed , of British shirts and shorts being worn.

There are also the cases in Africa, after Tobruk was taken where British stocks of uniforms were then used by the Afrika Korps , and so I assume by extension this may have included FJ units perhaps ?

Have members any items in their collections, or photos to show of this very practice, and also where else it may have extended to ( eg in Italy? ) . It may be that items were re tailored to look German, as we have seen with requisitioned Italian camo material.
Any comments appreciated, exceptions to the rule are always interesting...

Cheers Walter, there are studio pictures around also.
Hopefully we will all see some interesting items. I have a few in mind I have seen before , including a US jacket worn in Tunisia...just need to locate them .

Here are the English Beute tunics from my Crete grouping.
The blue one was colored by the German wearer.

I wonder what the round patch was on the lower left sleeve.
                      Any ideas anyone?

Thanks Rob, very useful to see , and great that you have other items of his group (including the exceptional DD helmet)

....could it be a luftwaffe specialists badge , removed?

Anand, please take another look at the Fj mortar crew on page 78 of my book; the loader on the left, that is not a German tropical shirt.
