              To add to the discussion. From the Bundesarchiv. Definitely appears to be Italian camo. Caption says "Italy - German Fallschirmjager"

                And this one. Took me a while to find this one and the above one in my files.

                It seems the FJ on the right has a pattern that to me looks like Italian camo. It's too smooth and the lighter patches are too big to be Splinter. Looking at the back is hard, but looking at his shoulder and arm seems like it is clearly NOT splinter of any type.
